Skills Programme: Generic Adventure Site Guide (GASG 0080)

This skills programme consists of nine unit standards, totalling 60 credits. It is the most sought-after qualification in the South African adventure sector, enabling you to work as an adventure guide across the country in activities you are already qualified for, such as rock climbing, kayaking, river rafting, surfing, overlanding, mountain biking, etc.

While STEDT offers internationally accepted activity skills training and assessment, the GASG 0080 course focuses on enhancing your personal entry-level 21st-century adventure guiding skills. The course aims to:

• Conduct Research: Plan and design exceptional guided experiences for clients at prominent tourism sites.
• Ensure Safety: Guide safe adventure activities, creating the best inclusive experience by managing safety and potential emergency situations.
• Lead and Manage Groups: Organise and manage diverse client groups, leading them safely through outdoor recreation and adventure activities.
• Minimise Environmental Impact: Plan and apply minimum environmental impact practices to mitigate natural, cultural, and social impacts during adventure activities and camping site operations.
