STEDT is a registered premier non-profit company, accredited by CATHSSETA, ARA (Adventure Recreation Association), and SA AIA (Southern Africa Adventure Industry Association). We provide a unique opportunity for Grade 10-12 tourism learners and university students to obtain an NQF 4 Tourist Guides qualification as a Culture or Adventure Guide - before they graduate!

STEDT has successfully piloted the SAQA Tourist Guide Qualification (71549) NQF 4 with 134 credits for Culture and Adventure Guides

With headquarters in Betty’s Bay and branches in Pretoria and Bloemfontein, with enrolment open to interested parties from all provinces!

We also offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments for these qualifications.

DEWALDS VENTER

Principal

With an impressive educational background from North-West University and Tshwane University of Technology, Dr Venter holds degrees in Human Movement and Recreation Sciences, Recreation and Tourism, Adventure Tourism Management, and a Doctorate in Tourism Management. With nearly 30 years in the tourism industry, he’s not just an expert but a passionate educator, teaching outdoor recreation, adventure leadership, and risk management at Tshwane University. He’s a registered South African national adventure, culture, and nature tourist guide and a CATHSSETA registered trainer and assessor. Dr. Venter is a true inspiration in the fields of tourism, sport, fitness, and event management!

JEHAN KRUGER

CEO

Educated in zoology and buffalo socio-ecology, he’s evolved from wildlife management and nature conservation to starting a wilderness trails business. He transitioned into the corporate sector, excelling in R&D, technical advisory, and management roles after studying at Wits Business School. He’s been a strategic force in a global conglomerate, later pivoting to tourism management. Since 1992, he’s been involved in training and guiding, co-owning Kruger & Kruger Photographic Safaris
and working with a private tourism college. A registered tourist guide in culture and nature, he’s also a qualified facilitator and assessor. In 2003, he co-founded a tourism training company and ventured into ISO management systems auditing and consultancy. Now serving as CEO of STEDT, he remains passionate about mentoring and training.

ANNALIZE GRIMBEEK

SDF

In 1996, Annalize founded MAG Tours & Safaris, a distinguished tour operation company. Her excellence in the field was recognized with the prestigious Lilizela Award for Best Tour Operator in 2014 and 2015. She’s also an acclaimed tour guide, having won the Lilizela Award as Best Tourist Guide in North West Province annually from 2010 to 2015, and a finalist in the National Lilizela Awards during those years. Beyond her business achievements, Annalize is a National Cultural
Guide, equipped to train and mentor aspiring culture tourist guides. She’s certified in the CATHSETA’s Further Education and Training Certificate 71549 (NQF Level 4) and registered as a tourist guide facilitator, assessor, and moderator. Her expertise extends to being a Hiking and Camping Guide and one of the few South African female skippers qualified for Open Water.

Marketing Consultant & Facilitator

Chené’s educational background and qualifications include a Master’s in Ancient History, Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, as well as psychology. After teaching at the University of Stellenbosch, the University of the Western Cape, and several high schools, she started her own marketing business. She has a wide range of knowledge in topics and industries, as well as a passion for teaching and improving South Africa’s educational systems!
